Aside from her powerful position in Inazuman society, Kujou Sara also wields an Electro Vision and is a master with a bow. To help her reach her maximum potential, here’s what she needs for ascension and talent upgrades.
Leveling Materials
Kujou Sara, like any other Genshin Impact character, needs over 8 million EXP to reach level 90, which is the maximum. To get there, more EXP will be needed at each ascension level, as outlined below:
Reaching the max level will require a ton of EXP materials. Here’s an efficient combination that will get Sara there without much waste:
Kujou Sara Ascension Items
Electro characters like Sara use Vajrada Amethyst to ascend. Sara, in particular, also requires some Storm Beads from the Thunder Manifestation boss, Hilichurl Masks, and some Dendrobium, a special plant that only grows in Inazuma.
Gemstones - Where to Find Vajrada Amethyst
Vajrada Amethyst, which is used by Kujou Sara and every other Electro character, is found in a number of ways. It can be obtained like any other elemental gem by finishing daily commissions, trading sigils at the souvenir shops in Mondstadt and Liyue, and from events. However, much of it will probably come to most players from defeating bosses.
The following bosses and challenges can reward Vajrada Amethyst:
Azhdaha Stormterror/Dvalin The Shogun Childe/Tartaglia Coral Defenders Electro Hypostasis Thunder Manifestation Primo Geovishap
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Hilichurl Masks
It’s rare to be short on Hilichurl Masks as these monsters are basically everywhere. However, the higher level Masks only drop from Hilichurls that are themselves higher levels.
Any level: Damaged Mask Level 40+: Stained Mask Level 60+: Ominous Mask
Note: these Masks can be dropped by Samachurls, Mitachurls, and Lawachurls, too, not just standard Hilichurls.
Boss Drop - How to Get Storm Beads
Every character in Genshin Impact has a boss drop that they use for ascension. For Kujou Sara, that boss drop is Storm Beads. These are dropped by the Thunder Manifestation atop Seirai Island.

It’ll take some time and effort to reach this boss in the first place, and even more to defeat it. Check out our guide (linked above) for some help on taking down this Electro menace.
Local Specialty - Where to Find Dendrobium
Kujou Sara is currently the only character in the game that uses this strange plant for their ascension. It’s said that it grows on battlefields where much blood was spilled.
As such, it’s easily found on Kannazuka and Yashiori Island, two sites that have historically seen many battles. There is an especially high concentration of Dendrobium on Nazuchi Beach, which connects those two islands. It seems that it grows here due to the long history of war in the area, even up to the modern day between the rebellion and the Shogunate’s forces.
Unlike many other regional specialty plants, Dendrobium cannot be grown in the Serenitea Pot or purchased from any vendors.
Kujou Sara Talent Materials
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kujou Sara uses the Elegance series of talent books to upgrade her talents. She’ll also need quite a few more Hilichurl Masks, some Crowns of Insight, and one of the drops from La Signora’s weekly trounce domain fight.
Talent Books - Elegance
The Elegance talent books are used by Sara, Arataki Itto, Kamisato Ayaka, and the Traveler’s Electro talents. All three levels can be obtained by clearing the Violet Court domain on Tuesdays, Fridays, or Sundays.
Trounce Materials and Crowns of Insight
Every Genshin Impact character’s talents require a Crown of Insight to level up from 9 to 10, meaning they’ll need three in total if their talents are to be maxed. These rare items can be obtained from special events, or by making offerings to Inazuma’s Sacred Sakura and Dragonspine’s Frostbearing Tree.
Additionally, Sara requires some Ashen Hearts to upgrade her talents at the higher levels. This is one of the drops from La Signora’s weekly trounce fight. If you’re having trouble obtaining them, you can convert the other La Signora trounce materials with some Dream Solvent at a crafting bench.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, with a Nintendo Switch version in development.
