Czech Kvitova, seeded 13, is coming off an impressive fourth-round straight-sets win over Spain’s world number three Garbine Muguruza, who many had picked to win the tournament. Ninth seed Williams, who beat Carla Suarez Navarro to reach the last eight, got to the final at this year’s Australian Open and Wimbledon and is gunning for her first grand slam title since 2008....

Kvitova was beaten in her previous two semi-final appearances of the clay-court event, but the third seed was not to be denied on this occasion. Bertens defeated Kvitova twice last year to level their head-to-head record, so the Czech had a score to settle as she won 7-6 (7-3) 3-6 6-1. The 27-year-old Czech required surgery to her left, playing, hand after being stabbed by an intruder at her home last December, but has made a faster-than-expected recovery. “I am flying to Roland Garros today and taking part in a press conference on site at 2.30 p.m. local time on Friday,” she wrote on Instagram. “Keep everything crossed for me that I will be able to play there.” Kvitova already confirmed on Tuesday that she is set to play at Wimbledon in July....

Today Rockstar confirmed that the file size for L.A. Noire on the Nintendo Switch is 29GB. While the Switch has built-in storage of 32GB, just over 6GB of that space is used for the console’s operating system. In all of 2020, L.A. police shot 27 people, seven of them fatally. The year before, police shot 26 people total and killed 12, the Times reported. The 18th person to be fatally shot by L.A. police in 2021 died on Sunday, according to authorities. Officials have offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest after a suspect shot two deputies who were sitting in their patrol car at a Metro rail station in Compton, California on Saturday evening. The deputies—a 31-year-old female and a 24-year-old male—underwent surgery after the shooting and were expected to recover, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed on Sunday. Authorities released surveillance footage of the shooting, but said on Sunday they had only a “very generic description” of the shooter....
